You’ve done the drills. You’ve put in the hours. You’ve watched the YouTube tutorials of all the greats and heros in your sport. But when the whistle blows, there’s a gap between the speed you feel in your head and the speed that actually hits the field, beach, or track. You feel like you’re working at 100%, but your times say otherwise.
The Problem: The Invisible Leaks
The most frustrating part of performance is the “plateau”. That invisible ceiling where effort no longer equals progress. Most athletes think they just need to “push harder.” But at The Lollypop Agency, we’ve found that the problem isn’t your effort; it’s a physics problem. If it’s not a growth spurt, it’s a biomechanical “leak”. But growth spurts often introduces these leaks because of forcing movement and compensating for finding power instead of finding the new body.
As an example, in a recent analysis of a high-level sprinter, we identified a classic speed-killer: lateral weight shift. Instead of driving forward, the athlete was subtly shifting sideways to compensate “looking for power”. This created a microscopic pause, a “hiccup” in momentum, that disconnected the arms from the legs. And you can’t outwork a movement pattern that your brain has chosen as a path of least resistance.
The Plan: Coach’s Eye Meets Data Precision
We don’t guess; we measure. By combining decades of elite coaching experience with in-depth analysis, we look past the surface. It all starts with the coach’s eye that notices a subtle shift in shapes. Often in movements so quick, it’s unnonticeable. The micro-hesitations are invisible. Most people tend to focus on the big repeatable patterns. Those are often structural and adapted to. As we see in many elite athletes. Those aren’t the power leaks. The power leaks are exactly that: invisible.
The Analysis
The goal is to identify the wrong shape. Is it the center of mass or the hip extension deficit? What is it that this athlete needs now.
Too often we see athletes go for video analysis and come back with a document that details all the areas where their form is “not perfect”. It’s complete unusable and way too much information for any single athlete to comprehend, let alone implement inside a strucutred development plan to integrate with their current training.
